Mr. Cryer

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what reductions in the services provided by his Department he anticipates during 1979.

Mr. Prentice

In common with the rest of the Civil Service, my right hon. Friend's Department is expected to achieve significant economies in administrative costs during 1979.80. I do not expect this to result in a reduction in any of the essential services to the public which the Department provides.
