Mr. Cartwright

asked the Secretary of State for Defence (1) how many Service men were treated as in-patients at Queen Elizabeth hospital, Woolwich during the three months ended 31 March;

(2) how many National Health Service patients were accepted for in-patient treatment at Queen Elizabeth hospital, Woolwich during the three months ended 31 March; and how many of them were dependants of Service men.

In the quarter ending 31 March 1979, 1,074 Service personnel, 628 National Health Service patients and 269 Service dependants were admitted for in-patient treatment at the Queen Elizabeth military hospital, Woolwich.

Mr. Cartwright

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what steps he is taking to recover the costs of treating National Health Service patients at Queen Elizabeth hospital, Woolwich.

Mr. Hayhoe

Some National Health Service patients are admitted to the Queen Elizabeth military hospital, Woolwich on a fill-up basis and for these no charges are recovered. However, consideration is being given to the recovery of costs for certain specialised treatment.
