HC Deb 11 June 1979 vol 968 cc32-3W
Mr. McQuarrie

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what steps he proposes to take to safeguard the interests of those farmers in the North-East of Scotland whose future livelihood is at risk due to the impending cessation of pig slaughtering facilities at Lawson's of Dyce.

Mr. Younger

I refer my hon. Friend to the reply I gave my hon. Friend the Member for Aberdeen, South (Mr. Sproat) on 24 May—[Vol. 967, c.262.3.]

Our discussions are continuing, and we remain committed to seeking a means of safeguarding pig production and related employment.
