§ Mr. TebbitThe regulation of domestic air services, including fares, is a matter for the Civil Aviation Authority. The authority has recently published a consultative document—"Domestic Air Services—A Review of Regulatory Policy" and has invited comments from interested parties.
§ Mr. Warrenasked the Secretary of State for Trade if it is his policy to promote the de-regulation of air fares on routes between the United Kingdom and destinations which are in member States of the Council of Europe.
§ Mr. TebbitAny change in the system of regulation of international air fares in Europe would require the agreement of each of the Governments concerned. I am anxious to see that air fares are as low as possible consistent with the viability of efficient airlines. With that end in view the United Kingdom has recently52W been successful in establishing new lower fares on European routes.
