§ Mr. Biggs-Davisonasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what consideration has been given to the opening of a Northern Ireland Tourist Board office in Dublin; and with what result.
§ Mr. AlisonIn 1978 the Northern Ireland Tourist Board commissioned a survey of attitudes to holidaying in Northern Ireland among the citizens of the Republic. The conclusions of this survey showed that there was no commercial justification at that time for reopening a separate office. More recently, however, there have been signs from the Republic of a renewal of interest in holidays in the North. The Tourist Board agrees, therefore, that this matter might be reviewed in the course of a consultancy study which is being commisisoned by the Department of Commerce and which will examine the whole field of tourism.
