§ Mr. Meacherasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will list the current members of the executive of the National Economic Development Organisation 551W and each of the EDCs, and indicate in each case their occupation and background, which other public and private sector board posts they hold and what remuneration they receive.
§ Mr. BiffenOver 1,000 representatives of Government, management and unions serve on the National Economic Development Council and on the economic development committees—EDCs—sector working parties—SWPs—and other committees which come under the Council. Information on the occupations, background and other public and private board posts of members is not available. Names of members of the council and chairmen of EDCs and SWPs in post on 31 March 1979 are listed in the annual report of the National Economic Development Council which was published on 26 July. Only chairmen of EDCs are entitled to draw fees of £1,000 a year and 10 of the 18 chairmen currently in post do so.
