asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will make a statement about the application to capital transfer tax of the former Canadian death duties double taxation agreement.

In a written answer given on 1 August 1978 the previous Government announced that the Government of Canada had been given written notice that the United Kingdom Government intended to terminate the agreement with effect from 30 September 1978. The answer explained that, following the
