HC Deb 27 July 1979 vol 971 cc537-8W
Mr. R. C. Mitchell

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what proposals he has for changing the law relating to prostitution with particular reference to prostitutes operating from houses in residential areas; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Brittan

The Criminal Law Revision Committee is examining the law on prostitution, including the aspect to which the hon. Member has drawn attention, as part of the review of sexual offences which it is undertaking in consultation with the policy advisory committee on sexual offences. The Government think it right to await the outcome of this review before considering changes in this area of the law.
