HC Deb 27 July 1979 vol 971 cc691-2W
Mr. Alfred Morris

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will ensure that the further cuts proposed in public expenditure will in no way diminish the benefits and services available to disabled people.

Mr. Prentice

I have made clear that I expect local authorities to give priority to those most in need, but, while I hope that cuts in services affecting disabled people will be minimal, I cannot guarantee that the latter will not be affected. Social security benefits will, of course, be uprated in November.
