HC Deb 26 July 1979 vol 971 cc451-2W
Mr. Golding

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will list those travel-to-work areas from which the small firms employment subsidy will be or has been withdrawn.

Mr. Jim Lester,

pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 23 July 1979; Vol. 971, c.47],gave the following answer:

Mr. Jim Lester

The following table gives the information for Great Britain and for the Birkenhead employment office area for July each year from 1970 to 1978 and for April 1979 for the age ranges nearest to those specified.

The small firms employment subsidy scheme is at present due to run until 31 March 1980 in the special development areas and development areas.

The planned downgrading of some existing special development areas and development areas will not take place until after 31 March 1980 and so does not affect the eligibility of small firms in those areas for SFES during the life of the present scheme.
