Whether they will review the terms of appointment of chief constables so as to make it possible for police authorities to appoint a chief officer for a term of years or until he is 60 as against the present system whereby, once appointed, he remains in office until he is 65.
§ Lord BELSTEADAppointment for a term of years would not be appropriate.
