HC Deb 26 July 1979 vol 971 cc374-5W
Mr. David Steel

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether, following the written answer by the Secretary of State for the Environment indicating that work on archaeology and conservation within his Department will be unaffected by public expenditure cuts in England, he will give a similar assurance in respect of Scotland, in particular, concerning the work of the central excavation unit and the field survey team.

Mr. Younger

No cuts are proposed for archaeology and conservation within my Department in the current year. The futures of the central excavation unit and the field survey team are under examination in common with all other parts of the Civil Service.
