§ Lord AVEBURYasked Her Majesty's Government:
Whether, in the assessment of the working of the parole scheme after the first 10 years which the Government intend to publish, there will be statistical material which will enable the reader to form an opinion as to whether or not prisoners who are liable to deportation on completion of their sentences are treated less favourably than others; and whether they would welcome an investigation by the Commission for Racial Equality into this matter.
§ Lord BELSTEADThe production of such statistical material would be excessively costly in the use of staff time and the Government doubt if it would serve the purpose suggested. We are not aware of any grounds for an investigation.
