HC Deb 25 July 1979 vol 971 c258W
Mr. John Page

asked the Lord Privy Seal what is the cause of the delay in issuing passports; what steps he is taking to rectify the position; and when he expects things to be back to normal.

Mr. Luce

Despite a 30 per cent. in crease in demand there is no undue delay in the grant of passport facilities. Non-urgent applications are being processed in between four and six weeks. All urgent cases are being dealt with in good time for stated dates of travel. Issue time will lessen as seasonal pressure recedes in a few weeks.
