HC Deb 25 July 1979 vol 971 cc325-6W
Mr. Dalyell

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a statement on the work of the national anti-waste programme, established in 1976.

Mr. Fox

Work done by the national anti-waste programme enlists industrial, environmental, local authority and consumer group support in the conservation of resources and the reduction of waste. The two main strands of the programme's work continue to be, first, action in the fields of education and information to maintain and increase public support for reclamation and recycling, and, second, investigation, with the industries and authorities concerned, of the scope for increased recovery of materials or energy from waste.
