HC Deb 25 July 1979 vol 971 c262W
Mr. George

asked the Secretary of State for Industry what were the results of the representations made to the EEC by his Department on the problems of the British industrial fastener industry.

Mr. David Mitchell

Following discussions between the Department and the EEC Commission, the Commission is inquiring into the apparent imbalance between the price at which steel is supplied to fastener manufacturers in other member States and the prices ruling in the United Kingdom. It is hoped that the matter will be brought to a conclusion during the autumn.
