Mr. Ernie Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Industry if he will estimate the total number of jobs in ancillary industries dependent upon the shipbuilding industry in Great Britain.

Mr. Michael Marshall

Precise estimates are not possible but roughly 1¼ jobs in supplier industries are dependent upon each job in shipbuilding—naval and merchant.

asked the Secretary of State for Industry what is the number of ships currently on order at each yard of British Shipbuilders, the total tonnage and the last delivery date for orders.
