§ 22. Dr. Summerskillasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what are the privileges and advantages available to patients occupying pay beds in National Health Service hospitals which are denied to patients in ordinary beds.
§ Dr. VaughanThe facilities available for private patients vary from hospital to hospital. But in general, private patients are treated by the consultant of their choice and usually accommodated in single rooms. I must add, however, that single rooms are, of course, also available to NHS patients needing them on medical grounds, and there is also the amenity bed scheme.
