§ Mr. Altonasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether, in view of the fact that the Plowden report referred, 13 years ago, to gipsy children as the most deprived children in the United Kingdom, if he will now use the bi-annual surveys to establish numbers and needs.
§ Dr. BoysonAfter consultation with my Department, the Department of the Environment began last summer to collect information about gipsy children as part of its regular six-monthly caravan count. The information received in the two exercises undertaken so far is incomplete but it may help to establish the numbers and seasonal whereabouts of these children.
