HC Deb 23 July 1979 vol 971 cc71-2W
Mr. Hardy

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what quantity of eggs has been imported from France during the last four weeks; what price has been charged for them; and if this is below the cost of production and delivery of home-produced eggs.

Mr. Buchanan-Smith

For the four-week period ending 8 July 1979, the latest for which estimates are available, shell egg imports from France are provisionally estimated at 37,000 boxes. The estimated average cif price was £10 per box. The estimated average packer selling prices for home produced eggs during the same period were between £6.50 and £15.50 according to grade.
