§ Mr. Strawasked the Lord Privy Seal what action he is taking in the case of Rita Nightingale who is serving a 20-year sentence in Thailand for drug offences and who has maintained throughout that she is innocent.
§ Mr. BlakerMiss Nightingale has filed a plea for clemency and the result is awaited. However, I can assure the hon. Member that my right hon. Friend is aware of the public interest in this case and is prepared, in consultation with Miss 463W Nightingale's lawyers, to take any action he properly can to assist her.
