§ Mr. Lawrenceasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many sufferers from dyslexia are known to be living in Staffordshire; how many are children; and what provision is being made for the treatment of dyslexia.
§ Dr. BoysonNeither my Department nor the Department of Health and Social Security collects information about the number of persons suffering from dyslexia. Provision for treatment is made throughout the country in different ways, for example in clinics in certain universities and hospitals, in reading centres run by local education authorities and by voluntary bodies and in special classes in schools. Help is also provided for adults with reading difficulties in adult literacy schemes run by local authorities and voluntary bodies.
