§ Mr. Altonasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what action is to be taken to use the information collected for the review of the Rent Act; how long it has taken to collect this information; and how much it cost to compile this information.
§ Mr. StanleyMy right hon. Friend is considering some of the suggestions put forward in response to the review and I can assure the hon. Member that we shall reach our conclusions much more quickly than the last Government did. They announced the review in November 1975 and had not produced final conclusions by the time of the general election this year. No precise attribution of costs to the review is available because the work at official level was carried out by administrative and specialist staff who were also engaged on routine duties.
