HC Deb 04 July 1979 vol 969 cc631-2W
Mr. Ellis

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what consultations his Department has had with regional or area health authorities which have proposed discontinuance or reduction of the provision in hospitals of specific types of medical treatment.

Dr. Vaughan

None so far under the present Administration.

Mr. Tom Ellis

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what consultations he has had with the trustees of charitable funds for the provision of specific types of medical treatment about ensuring adequate control of the use of such funds.

Dr. Vaughan

The control and application of charitable funds are matters within the discretion of the trustees of the charities concerned; should such trustees require advice they would usually consult the Charity Commission and my right hon. Friend would not normally expect to be involved in such consultations. If, however, the hon. Member supplies details of any particular case he has in mind, I shall write to him.
