asked the Secretary of State for Wales what is his attitude towards the closure of small rural primary schools in Wales.

Mr. Michael Roberts

It is, in the first instance, for local education authorities to consider what provision should be made for primary education in rural areas. Proposals for closure made under section 13 of the Education Act 1944 will be considered on their merits and in the light of any objections made.
