§ Mrs. Chalkerasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he remains satisfied with his powers to safeguard the rights of local authorities' employees, in the light of non-payment by Tower Hamlets of employees currently at work who are thus ineligible for assistance from the Department of Health and Social Security.
§ Mr. ShoreI have no powers in these matters, but am pleased to learn that the Tower Hamlets borough council is making arrangements to pay its employees currently at work.
