HL Deb 20 February 1979 vol 398 c1805WA
Lord YOUNG of DARTINGTON

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many disputes between building societies and their members have been dealt with since 1962 by the Chief Registrar under the procedures of the Building Societies Act 1962.

Lord McCLUSKEY

Since 1962, 17 disputes between building societies and their members have been determined by the Registrar under the provisions for the arbitration of disputes contained in the Building Societies Act of that year. In a further eight cases, disputes were referred but were later withdrawn or settled. One further dispute has recently been referred to the Registrar, but has not yet come to a hearing.
