Viscount BROOKEBOROUGH

asked Her Majesty's Government:

When the remaining provisions of the Judicature (Northern Ireland) Act 1978 will be brought into force.

The LORD CHANCELLOR

A few provisions of the Act are already in operation. I intend shortly to make a commencement order bringing all the principal remaining provisions of the Act into operation on 18th April, 1979. These will include the provisions transferring responsibility for the administration of the courts in Northern Ireland from the Secretary of State to the Lord Chancellor.

House adjourned at twenty minutes before nine o'clock.
