HL Deb 15 February 1979 vol 398 cc1515-6WA
The Earl of KIMBERLEY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether, since the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry is now going on his trade mission to China in a British Airways Concorde, half of the aircraft can be painted in CAAC colours, in order to promote sale or lease of this aircraft to China.

Lord JACQUES

The Secretary of State for Industry will be flying on Concorde only as far as Singapore on a British Airways scheduled service. Other arrangements have been made for travelling on to Peking from Singapore. In the circumstances the noble Earl's suggestion would not seem to be appropriate.
