§ Mr. Les HuckfieldThe two submissions by the borough of Sunderland suggesting further measures to alleviate unemployment were the subject of discussions between Ministers and representatives of the borough. The Government's response to the recommendations was given in letters of 21 November 1977 from my right hon. Friend the Minister of State, Department of Employment and of 26 May 1978 from my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Industry to the leader of the borough council.
