§ Mr. Ifor Daviesasked the Secretary of State for Wales if he has any proposals for simplifying the procedures for dealing with disputes over the valuation of freeholds under the Leasehold Reform Act 1967, which is a matter of particular concern to many leaseholders in Wales.
§ Mr. John MorrisYes. My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for the Environment and I are proposing measures by which valuation disputes should be referred in the first instance to local leasehold valuation tribunals whose members would be drawn from existing rent assessment panels. This should reduce the difficulties and delays which some leaseholders have experienced. There would be a subsequent right of appeal to the Lands Tribunal. It is hoped to include these measures in the forthcoming Housing Bill.
