asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will list the organisations representing small firms which were consulted in the appointment of members of the Homeworkers Advisory Committee.

The employers' representatives were nominated by the CBI. I had no consultations with other employer organisations.

Mr. M. Burdon, Deputy director and secretary, South Lancashire, Cheshire and North Wales Engineering Employers' Association.

Mr. M. J. Heron, Director, employment policy, British Footwear Manufacturers' Federation.

Mr P. H. Jones, Manager, Social affairs, legal and employment advisory services, Confederation of British Industry.

Mr. D. Jordan, Research officer, the low pay unit.

Mr. D. A. C. Lambert, General secretary, National Union of Hosiery and Knitwear Workers.

Mr. J. Macguogan, General secretary, National Union of Tailors and Garment Workers.

Mr. J. Monks, Secretary, organisation and industrial relations department, Trades Union Congress.

Dr. O. Robinson, Senior lecturer in economics, university of Bath.

Mr. J. Short, Campaign organiser, London homeworking campaign.

Mrs. A. Spencer, Full-time officer, National Union of Tailors and Garment Workers Union.

Dr. M. J. Stevenson, Lecturer in social administration, faculty of economics and social studies, university of Manchester.

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will publish the terms of reference of the Homeworkers Advisory Committee; and if he will make a statement.

The terms of reference areto monitor the work of the homeworking unit of the wages inspectorate and keep under review what further action may be needed to protect homeworkers—having regard to the responsibilities of the Health and Safety Commission in the field of health and safety".

I have already chaired two very useful meetings.
