§ Mr. Stephen Rossasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he is considering the representations of charitable bodies, particularly 431W those connected with health and welfare, to amend the present legislation relating to lotteries in order to make it more attractive for major promoters to work with them.
§ Mr. WhitelawYes. I am considering representations that the limits on turn over, prizes and expenses should be raised. But these have to be viewed in the context of the report of the Royal Commission on Gambling, which drew attention to the need for improved controls over lotteries to prevent abuses.
