HC Deb 17 December 1979 vol 976 c38W
46. Mr. Grimond

asked the Secretary of State for Trade what are the reasons for the greatly increased charges proposed at Sumburgh and Grimsetter airports.

Mr. Tebbit

The Civil Aviation Authority is responsible for levying these charges. They do not require my approval. I understand that increases in charges at its aerodromes in Scotland are proposed as one of the measures the authority is taking to make adequate provision for cost inflation, including the higher rate charges following upon rating revaluations and to ensure that its need for grant-in-aid falls within its cash limit.
