HC Deb 17 December 1979 vol 976 c101W
Mr. Cryer

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will list the collieries in which Goodwin Warren arresters have been installed and the last date when the installations were inspected by Her Majesty's inspectors of mines and quarries.

Mr. Mayhew

I understand from the chairman of the Health and Safety Commission that Goodwin Warren arresters have been installed in underground locomotive haulage systems in the following mines:

  • Bentley
  • Bevercotes
  • Broadsworth
  • Dawdon
  • Donisthorpe
  • Ellington
  • Elsecar
  • Gedling
  • Hatfield
  • Hickleton
  • Kellingley
  • Ledston Luck
  • Maltby
  • Manton
  • Manvers
  • Murton
  • Monkton Hall
  • Sharlston
  • Silverwood
  • South Hetton
  • West Cannock No. 5
  • Yorkshire Main

In a small number of mines such arresters have been adapted for use in underground rope haulage systems. Her Majesty's Mines and Quarries Inspectorate includes the inspection of arresters in its normal duties when making routine visits to mines.
