§ Miss Maynardasked the Secretary of State for Employment how many convictions there were in 1978, in each county, in relation to the contravention of safety regulations on farms.
§ Mr. MayhewHer Majesty's Agricultural Inspectorate undertook 121 prosecutions during 1978. As a result 330 informations were laid resulting in a total of 295 convictions.
A total of 207 convictions arose from contraventions of regulations made under 96W the Agriculture (Safety, Health and Welfare Provisions) Act 1956; eight from contraventions of the Agriculture (Poisonous Substances) Regulations 1975, and 80 from offences under the general provisions of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974.
