HL Deb 11 December 1979 vol 403 c1132WA
Lord HYLTON

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How the take up of house improvement and repair grants in recent years in Northern Ireland compares with the takeup in the standard regions of Britain.

The PARLIAMENTARY UNDERSECRETARY of STATE, NORTHERN IRELAND OFFICE (Lord Elton)

The grants system in Northern Ireland varies in many respects from the system which operates in Great Britain. The rates of grants and the conditions to be satisfied are different and it is not possible to produce statistics for Northern Ireland which would enable a meaningful comparison to be drawn with the standard regions in Great Britain.
