§ Mr. Arnoldasked the Lord Privy Seal what progress has been made with the construction of the new road from Makambako to Songea in Southern Tanzania; and when he expects completion.
§ Mr. HurdThe work will be carried out in two stages. The contract for the first—northern—section from Makambako to Wino was signed between the Tanzanian Government and Balfour Beatty on 1 December 1979 and work will begin soon. This stage is expected to take two and a half years to construct and the whole project about five years to complete.
