§ Mr. Robert SheldonI regret that figures for 1 April are not available. At 1 March 1979, however, the Inland Revenue's total staff in post, including staff serving on short-term engagements, was 86,608. The 1 March strength total, including casuals and period appointments, of Customs and Excise was 28,922.
