Mr. Townsend

asked the Secretary of State for Industry how many hours were worked per tonne of crude steel in the following countries' steel industries, arranged in ascending order of hours worked: Italy, Luxembourg, Belgium, Netherlands, West Germany, France, and the United Kingdom, for each of the years 1973 and 1978; and what were the percentage changes between those years.

Mr. Les Huckfield,

pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 3 April 1979; Vol. 965, c. 620], gave the following answer:
