asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he remains satisfied with the working of the Housing (Homeless Persons) Act 1977.

Mr. Armstrong

I believe the Act is generally working well; authorities have certainly helped more homeless people, particularly among the vulnerable groups in the community. I have invited the local authority associations to let me have their views on the operation of the Act and the code of guidance.
