HC Deb 04 April 1979 vol 965 c810W
Mr. Cryer

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will list in the Official Report the number of persons engaged in implementing section 6 of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 so far as imports are concerned.

Mr. John Grant,

pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 3 April 1979; Vol. 965, c. 643], gave the following answer:

I am informed by the chairman of the Health and Safety Commission that all inspectors appointed to enforce the general provisions of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 see both United Kingdom-made and imported machinery etc. at the point of use in the normal course of their duties and take appropriate action on finding evidence to suggest that section 6 is not satisfied.
