§ Mr. William RodgersThe work done at Cranfield under the auspices of Sir Dan Pettit's committee was partially funded by my Department, as part of the programme of work promised in the 1977 transport policy White Paper—Cmnd. 6836, paragraph 197. I am considering what direction this programme of research should now take, so that existing techniques and existing possibilities can be properly assessed.
