§ Mr. Gregor MacKenzieIn 1978 there were open to the public 281 historic monuments in the care of the State, including properties in guardianship as well as those in Crown ownership. Their distribution by region is shown in the table below. Records of the numbers visiting these properties are not available but ticket admissions in 1978 at the 76 monuments at which charges are made were 2,361,200.
