HC Deb 03 April 1979 vol 965 c693W
Mr. Neubert

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what amount of money has been allocated to the North-East Thames regional health authority to meet the costs of administration in each of the years from 1974 to date; and what percentage of the total budget allocation this represents.

Mr. Moyle

Financial resources are allocated to regional health authorities as total amounts without specific apportionment for particular purposes. Annual accounts submitted by the health authorities show the revenue expenditure in each year on headquarters administration by the North-East Thames regional health authority and its area health authorities—including district headquarters. This expenditure, and the percentage of total expenditure which it represents, is as follows:

Expenditure on HQ administration,

£ million

Percentage of total expenditure
1974–75 11.3 3.7
1975–76 15.6 4.1
1976–77 18.6 4.3
1977–78 20.5 4.4
