HC Deb 03 April 1979 vol 965 cc566-7W
39. Mr. John Ellis

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many families are in receipt of family income supplement in the constituency of Brigg and Scunthorpe or the nearest corresponding area for which figures are kept; and how this compares with the national average.

Mr. Deakins

The smallest areas for which analyses of family income supplement (FIS) statistics are available are the social security administrative regions. The following table gives the latest available estimates for the numbers of families in receipt of FIS as proportions of the total population of the Yorkshire and Humberside administrative region—which includes my hon. Friend's constituency—and Great Britain.
