§ Mr. Youngerasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if, pursuant to his answer of 26 July, Official Report, column 744, he will give the percentage of total local government expenditure in Scotland represented by rate support grant for the latest available year.
§ Mr. MillanRate support grant, together with specific grants, amounts to 68.4 per cent. of relevant expenditure accepted for rate support grant purposes for 1978–79.
Relevant expenditure excludes certain expenditure undertaken by local authorities, mainly on housing. The percentage figure given differs from that initially determined as a result of adjustments made by an increase order.
