§ 35. Mr. Whiteheadasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department when he expects to publish the Bill setting up an open broadcasting authority.
§ Mr. Merlyn Rees:The White Paper on broadcasting (Cmnd. 7294) indicates that in preparing the legislation to implement those of the proposals which are appropriate to legislation the Government wish to have discussions with the broadcasting organisations and to take account of comments on the proposals. These discussions and work on the preparation of the legislation have begun, but I am not in a position to say when a Bill will be ready for publication.
