§ 36. Mr. Litterickasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what steps he is taking to reduce the length of time spent in prison by prisoners on remand.
§ Dr. Summerskill:As announced in the Budget Statement, an extra £10 million has been made available for law and order purposes, and £2 million of this is being made available for the running of magistrates' courts. It is intended that this money should be used primarily for reducing delays in magistrates' courts.
