§ 56. Mr. Beithasked the Secretary of State for Transport whether he will allow more freedom to local authorities to install pedestrian crossings on dangerous and busy roads.
§ Mr. Horam:The provision of pedestrian crossings on trunk roads is my statutory responsibility, although we do of course consider the views of the local authorities concerned. On other roads, highway authorities already have considerable discretion.
